How To Recover Microsoft Office Files That You Forgot To Save

We've all done it, created a file, maybe printed it, then closed Word or Excel without saving. Luckily there is a hidden backup. Before you panic, try following these simple steps: 
  1. Open the program (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with a new blank file.
  2. Click File from the menubar
  3. Click on the Manage ... Document (Word), Workbook (Excel), Presentation (PowerPoint)
  4. And select Recover Unsaved ... Document / Workbook / Presentation
  5. Select the asd file to open and save as ...
Alternatively you may have a Recover Unsaved ... button at the bottom of the Open file dialog.
